Today at 4:10 p.m. the Los Angeles Dodgers (4-1) and San Francisco Giants (3-1), two of MLB's fiercest rivals, will clash for the first time this season with Hyun-jin Ryu (1-0, 0.00 ERA) and Ryan Vogelsong (0-0, 0.00 ERA) on the hill for the Dodgers and Giants respectively. Today will be L.A.'s home opener, and second baseman Dee Gordon is pumped it's against their in-state antagonists. "The guys are ready to go out there and show them that we can play," Gordon said. "Big rivals, LA crowd, and I'm happy. It's going to be good."

The Dodgers opened the MLB slate in Australia for two games, then played on Sunday night against the Padres in San Diego. According to first baseman Adrian Gonzalez the travel took a bit of a toll.

"It's just getting your body adjusted again and getting your sleep pattern right. There's definitely a sense of fighting yourself a little bit," Gonzalez said. "That's why it's so awesome to come back with two victories. You definitely need that adjustment period back."

Helping matters is the return of outfielder Matt Kemp, who should add potency to a lineup already packed with power. It also complicates matters in the outfield, which is now overflowing with players who should be in the lineup every day.

The Giants are hot as well, especially first baseman Brandon Belt. He was a popular pick as a breakout candidate this spring, and has rewarded the faith of his believers so far with three homers in the team's first four games. He joins Barry Bonds, Willie Mays and Kevin Mitchell in that exclusive club.

"I said before the season I would hit 74 home runs," Belt said. "So we'll see what happens."
