Mindy McCready Alleged Mistress of Roger Clemens Found Dead at 37

Platinum-selling country music star and alleged long-time mistress of former MLB star pitcher Roger Clemens was found dead on Sunday in Little Rock, Arkansas, of a self-inflicted gunshot wound according to the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office in Arkansas.

In 2008, the New York Daily News reported that she was involved in a long-standing affair with Clemens, who pitched for the Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, New York Yankees and Houston Astros from 1984 to 2007. Clemens and his agent, Rusty Hardin, denied any "inappropriate or improper relationship" with McCready, but McCready eventually told Inside Edition that she did have a sexual relationship with Clemens, but it did not begin until after she turned 18. According to USA Today, Clemens released a statement on McCready's death which said "I had heard over time that she was trying to get peace and direction in her life," Clemens' statement read. "The few times that I had met her and her manager/agent they were extremely nice." During that time, Clemens was also dealing with allegations of steroid use in a book written by former baseball star Jose Canseco as well as having his name surface 82 times in the Mitchell Report, an investigation into steroid use in professional baseball conducted by former U.S. senator George Mitchell.

McCready's boyfriend, David Wilson, was found dead last month of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound but according to the Chicago Tribune the case was kept open due to uncertainties about his death.

McCready's career began in 1996 when her debut album "Ten Thousand Angels" sold two million copies. She released five albums in her career, but was well known for off-stage troubles. She was convicted of prescription drug fraud in 2004 and jailed again in 2007 for violating her parole. In 2009 McCready was part of the cast of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. McCready was 37 years old at the time of death.
