Maria Sharapova's boyfriend Gregor Dimitrov gains his own following after tending to heat-sick ball girl at Sony Open [VIDEO]

Maria Sharapova's boyfriend lost a match but gained a good-guy reputation on Monday.

According to a video on YouTube, Gregor Dimitrov, the No. 16 players in the world, in addition to being Sharapova's beau, was down a set and tied 1-1 in the second set with Kei Nishikori during the third round of the Sony Open on Monday, when he asked for a towel from the ballgirl.

"Towel, please. Towel, please," the Daily Mail reported Dimitrov as saying, having to repeat himself because the ball girl did not respond immediately to his initial request.

Dimitrov, according to the Mail, then noticed why the girl didn't tend to him immediately: she appeared to be ill.

Dimitrov then walked over to the ball girl, took her hand and escorted her to a bench behind the playing area where trainers could attend to her. When the trainers began to check her over, Dimitrov then returned to the court and earned a rousing ovation from the Miami crowd.

The Good Samaritan act didn't pay immediate dividends to Dimitrov; Nishikori defeated him in straight sets to advance to the fourth round.

As Tennis.SI.com reported, Dimitrov now may be known for being Sharapova's boyfriend or "Baby Federer," as he was called when he played on the junior tour.

Sharapova has not yet given a comment on Dimitrov's heroism, but she already recently told au.ibtimes.com that Dimitrov was her favorite male player.

After his actions on Monday, Sharapova may have to share him with a lot more fans. A certain ball girl certainly will be in that mix.
