Today at 2:10 p.m. ET the top seed in the West region, the Arizona Wildcats, will face off with No. 16 Weber State, a team that years ago played the role of giant-killer when they slayed a then No. 2 seeded UNC. A No. 16 seed has never upset a No. 1 seed in the history of this tournament, and Vegas thinks this will be no exception. Arizona will take the court as a 20-point favorite over the Big Sky champions, but don't expect Wildcats coach Sean Miller to rest on his laurels.
"One of the keys for us tomorrow is we can't get caught up in our seed vs. the seed that we're playing," Miller said. "This is a basketball game in the NCAA tournament and what we have talked about a lot is we're trying to be a good team tomorrow."
Weber State could be a threat if they get hot though; they launched about 18 3-pointers per game this year, and connected on 39 percent of them which is good for 20th in the entire country. Senior forward Davion Berry is their top scorer, giving the team 19.1 points per game and a 38 percent mark from downtown.
Getting their shots off may prove difficult though, as Arizona's athleticism on defense is a big reason they landed a No. 1 seed.
It's going to be a challenge," Weber State coach Randy Rahe said. "They're impressive to watch. I've enjoyed watching them on film because of how well-coached they are and how good they are together. It's a system I want to study when it's all said and done."
