Brandon Browner Patriots rumors [VIDEO]: Pats talking to banned Seahawk, joining Darrelle Revis in New England secondary?

There have been conflicting reports on the New England Patriots being interested in suspended free agent cornerback Brandon Browner, who would join new import Darrelle Revis in the New England secondary should the Patriots actually prove to be interested enough to sign him.

ESPN reported that the Patriots were negotiating with the free agent corner and eventually that they signed him, while the Boston Globe later reported that nothing was imminent.

ESPN reported that Browner, who was a member of the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks last season, had agreed on a two-year deal with New England, but the reports were eventually taken back with quotes from Browner's agent saying that he had been negotiating with "four teams and we do not have a deal. We aren't even close."

Peyton Manning deserves some credit for Pats signing Revis?

Browner is expected to visit the Washington Redskins on Friday and then the New Orleans Saints, according to ESPN, while the Patriots and the Oakland Raiders round out the four teams his agent referred to.

Browner will sit out the first four games of the 2014 campaign due to violating the league's substance-abuse policy. Browner will be able to sign with a new team, participate in offseason drills and training camp and will also be permitted to play in preseason games before sitting out the first four games of the regular season.

Following the loss of corner Aqib Talib to the Denver Broncos, the Pats may bring Browner in to team up with Revis, who the team officially signed Thursday following his release from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

ESPN reported that a source close to Browner said of the cornerback, "Browner wants to be in New England. I think we are close, but it's a tough deal to do because of suspension, etc."

Richard Sherman, Browner's teammate on the Seahawks last season, tweeted at him congratulating him on his new deal with New England, but reports indicate that the previous news of a deal being done didn't prove to be true.

Browner appeared in eight games in the regular season with the Seahawks this season, notching 18 tackles and one interception
