Tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET, the New Jersey Devils (24-21-13) and Washington Capitals (26-23-9) faceoff live from the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. for the third of four meetings against each other this season. The game can be live streamed here. New Jersey fans can hear all of the action on 101.9 WFAN while Washington fans can do the same on WFED 1500.

New Jersey enters play having lost two of its last three games while Washington has earned wins in two of their last three. The Devils own two wins over the Capitals this season, notching a 5-4 overtime win in D.C. on Dec. 21 and a 2-1 triumph on Jan. 24 in New Jersey.

The Capitals are coming off of a 4-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets. Alex Ovechkin notched his 40th goal of the season recently.

"It's good number [40]. I'm pretty sure it's not my last goal, so I don't want to stop," Ovechkin told the Washington Post. "I just want to keep going." 

Ovechkin (40-19-59) is the team leader in scoring while Niklas Backstrom (11-43-54) and Marcus Johansson (7-29-36) have also led the team.

The Devils are coming off of a 2-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers that saw rookie defenseman John Merrill notch his first career goal in overtime to give the team a win.

"You always dream about that kind of stuff when you're a little kid but I think after 20 games that had gone by," Merrill said per NHL.com.. "When I hadn't scored, those dreams kind of went away a little bit. To get that first one feels really good. It's a huge win for the team and that's most important." 

The Devils have been paced by Jaromir Jagr (17-32-49), Patrik Elias (11-22-33) and Travis Zajac (9-20-29) this season.

In net, Washington is likely to go with Braden Holtby, who is 16-13-2 with a 2.97 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage while Martin Brodeur will likely suit up for the Devils and is 13-11-4 with a 2.52 GAA and a .899 save percentage.

The Devils and Capitals play their last game before the Olympic break when they hit the ice tonight at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C.
