Tonight at 7:00 p.m. ET, the Anaheim Ducks (24-7-5. 53 points) and New Jersey Devils (14-15-6. 34 points) faceoff live from the Prudential Center in New Jersey for the second and final meeting this season. Anaheim won to kick off its road trip and looks to earn its second seven-game winning streak of the season and increase its hold on the top of the Pacific Division while New Jersey looks for its second three-game winning streak of the season. The first time these two teams met, the Devils beat the Ducks 4-3 in overtime on Nov. 20 in Anaheim.
The Ducks kicked off their road trip with a 5-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday. Captain and top scorer Ryan Getzlaf left with a facial injury, but is expected to play tonight. Devils' top scorer Jaromir Jagr had high praise of Getzlaf.
"For me, Getzlaf is the MVP," Jagr said per NHL.com. "It's going to be a big challenge to play against him down low. It's pretty tough."
Getzlaf leads the Ducks with 39 points off of 16 goals and 23 assists while Corey Perry has 10 goals in 11 games for a total of 22 tallies and 15 helpers for 37 points and Nick Bonino has lit the lamp 10 times and added 15 assists for 25 points.
Jagr, meanwhile, has paced the Devils with 29 points off of 12 goals and 17 assists while Patrik Elias has found the back of the net seven times and added 15 helpers for 22 points and Dainius Zubrus has seven markers and 10 assists for 17 points.
The Devils will likely go with Martin Brodeur between the pipes, who is 10-8-2 with a 2.30 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage while Anaheim will likely counter with Jonas Hiller, who is 14-4-4 with a 2.45 GAA and a .914 save percentage.
Brodeur recalled the last time these two teams played.
"We played them and competed real well, got a little lucky winning the game," Brodeur said per NHL.com. "It worked out that way. It's a challenge. We've been playing well against good teams. It's not a big deal, but we need to get games together if we want to get out of not being in the playoffs. We have to string games together."
The Ducks look to make it seven straight victories while the Devils hope to win their third in a row when the puck drops tonight at the Prudential Center tonight in New Jersey.
