Red Bull driver Max Verstappen is quite accustomed to winning by now.

After McLaren driver Lando Norris claimed his first-ever career win in Formula 1 at the Miami Grand Prix last Sunday, May 5, the reigning world champion made a humorous mistake during the post-race press conference.

Verstappen, who finished with a rare P2 in Miami, accidentally sat in the middle of the sofa in the press room before the interviews, likely out of habit. This spot is typically reserved for the racewinner.

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, who secured the final podium spot, had to remind Verstappen that he did not win this time.

The Dutchman quickly realized his hilarious blunder, sharing a short laugh while moving to his proper place and apologizing.

Max Verstappen praises Lando Norris for first F1 win

Norris clinched a sensational win in Miami after beginning the race from P5. Well-timed pit stops and the occurrence of safety cars enabled him to seize the lead and maintain it until the end.

Verstappen, who regards Norris as his best friend on the grid and often spends time with him outside of races, praised the 24-year-old Brit and expressed his happiness for him.

"I'm very happy for Lando, it's been a long time coming and it's not going to be his last one, so he definitely deserves it today," the three-time world champion stated in the post-race interviews.

McLaren also won their first race as a team since Daniel Ricciardo won the 2021 Italian Grand Prix.
