Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson has expressed his desire to leave the team after another stellar individual campaign.
The 29-year-old has requested a trade away from the franchise, according to league insider Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Hendrickson is reportedly seeking greater long-term security, but the team has yet to extend a long-term contract offer to him. If he does not get traded, retirement is also on the table as an option for the former Florida Atlantic player.
One of the best defensive ends in the NFL, the former third-round pick has earned Pro Bowl honors for the past three consecutive seasons.
Hendrickson won't reach free agency until the end of the 2025 NFL season. He is set to earn a base salary of $14.8 million in 2024 and $15.8 million in 2025, according to Spotrac.

Despite his request, the Bengals maintain a firm stance regarding the three-time Pro Bowl selection.
The team has expressed zero interest in trading Hendrickson and has no intention of doing so, as per league insider Paul Dehner Jr. of the Athletic.
The Florida native tallied 28 solo tackles, 15 assists, and an impressive 17.5 sacks in all 17 regular season games in 2023. His sack count placed him the second-highest in the NFL, trailing only the Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt.
