Ryan Garcia has failed to meet the weight requirement for his world super lightweight championship fight against Devin Haney, scheduled for April 20th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

During the official weigh-in on Friday morning, April 19th, the 25-year-old fighter tipped the scales at 143.2lbs behind closed doors, exceeding the division limit by 3.2lbs. This occurred before a ceremonial weigh-in, open to the public later in the day.

Speaking with Emily Austin of DAZN, Garcia doesn't seem bothered by his missed weight and was focused on the fight, which he described as "mayhem" and "war."

Ryan Garcia vs Devin Haney is set to continue, but with a catch

Despite Garcia weighing in over the limit, there were no calls to cancel the fight. Instead, the two fighters reached a handshake agreement.

Garcia has agreed to pay Haney $1.5 million, which amounts to $500,000 per pound missed. The outspoken boxer honored the deal, as confirmed by the champion.

Furthermore, Garcia will no longer be eligible to contend for Haney's WBC title. In the event that Haney loses, the belt will be vacated.
