The New York Jets in the past week of NFL Free Agency have made some significant roster moves in an attempt to right the wrongs from last year; signing wide receiver Mike Williams definitely helps in filling the WR2 hole that plagued the team last season. The deal for Williams is said to be for one year worth up to $15 million.

Mike Williams, the 7th overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft, has spent the entirety of his career with the Los Angeles Chargers. Williams saw some success with the Bolts, putting up two seasons, 2019 and 2021, with over 1,000 yards. Mike Williams' best use is in the redzone, as the talented wideout could utilize his 6 foot 4 frame and body positioning to snag passes delivered by Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The New York Jets fans are over the moon this week after signing Tyron Smith to officially sure up the offensive line, and now gaining even more talent at the wide receiver position; likely complementing Garrett Wilson on the other side.

All is Good In New York But Some Are Tentative on Mike Williams

There is one drawback to the Mike Williams signing for the Jets and that's if he could stay healthy. There is no doubt that Williams is an extremely talented wideout, and seemingly in his prime, but his inability to stay on the field is only weakness. He has missed quite a few games in his seven NFL seasons, as some Jets fans may be hesitant to celebrate as they know all too well how unforgiving Metlife Stadium is to NFL star players.

Minus the gloom, the New York Jets seem to have gotten their team on the right track as they hopefully prepare for an exciting season led by Aaron Rodgers. Barring injuries, the Jets could possibly fly to new heights as they try to load up probably the most talented team Rodgers has ever played on.
