The Minnesota Vikings have signed former Green Bay Packers playoff hero running back Aaron Jones amidst the Packers signing Josh Jacobs a day prior. The deal is said to be worth $7 million for one year.
After talks of taking a pay cut for Green Bay, Aaron Jones was eventually released yesterday shortly after the Packers agreed to sign Las Vegas running back Josh Jacobs. After leading the charge for the Packers in the playoffs, the talented RB will be heading to the NFC North rival Vikings. Jones joins other star running back Saquon Barkley in joining a division rival through NFL Free Agency.
Aaron Jones is used to being the focal point of an offense, but he might have an even heavier workload ahead of him in Minnesota. Jones was a major player in the development of what seems to be the Packers new franchise quarterback Jordan Love, and Minnesota may be onto something in signing the 29 year old running back.
Aaron Jones' ability to be a quarterback's best friend may be what the Vikings are looking for as they try to fill the shoes of Kirk Cousins, who signed with the Atlanta Falcons at the start of the tampering period.
