Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James confirmed the severity of the injury that forced him to miss the final minutes of their game against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday, March 6, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.
The NBA's all-time leading scorer left the game and headed back to the locker room with 3:56 remaining in the fourth quarter as the Lakers were trailing by 14 points, with the score at 122-108.
James explained that he exited the game due to discomfort in his left ankle, an ongoing issue he has grappled with throughout much of the season.
"I'll be all right," the 39-year-old told reporters after the game.
The four-time NBA champion stated that the ankle has been a concern for several months but felt fine during their last game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday, March 4. He also mentioned that it was okay for most of the night against the Kings.
