The Kansas City Chiefs have done it again. After a season full of ups and downs, they have cemented themselves in NFL history by winning their second consecutive Super Bowl, defeating the San Francisco 49ers 25-22.
Mahomes threw the game-winning touchdown to wide receiver Mecole Hardman in overtime to seal the win for the Chiefs, capping off what was another excellent season for KC.
Head coach Andy Reid and the Chiefs are now the eighth team in NFL history to win back-to-back Super Bowls. The last team to do so was Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, who did so in 2003 and 2004. With Sunday's win, the Chiefs find themselves with a golden opportunity next season to do the impossible, winning three consecutive Super Bowls in a row.
So far, no team in NFL history has pulled off a 3-peat in the Super Bowl era. The Green Bay Packers won the last NFL Championship game in 1965 and the first two Super Bowls in 1966 and 1967; which is the closest to a run comparable to pulling off three Super Bowl wins.
There's no doubt that the Chiefs have the tools to continue to do so. However, they do have some major offseason questions looming over the franchise, leaving many to ask if the current Super Bowl champs have what it takes to complete the 3-peat.

Kansas City Chiefs: Major Free Agency Questions
The Chiefs have two major free-agency questions to answer this offseason, resigning two key players on defense.
Defensive tackle Chirs Jones, who held out during week one of the 2023 NFL season, signed a one-year deal to remain in Kansas City and is set to be a free agent this offseason.
Throughout the 2023 season, Jones was the best defensive player on the team and was a crucial part of this year's Super Bowl run.
Along with Jones, star cornerback L'Jarius Sneed may also walk in free agency. Sneed and Trent McDuffie were superb for the Chiefs secondary and like Jones, played a large part in their Super Bowl win.
Along with defense, there are some questions for the Chiefs on offense as well in the offseason.
Despite his superb play in the postseason, tight end Travis Kelce is coming off a down year and with his age and seeming regression, the Chiefs may need to look to add one more dynamic receiver in free agency; or in the draft to help keep the dynasty alive.
Rashee Rice and Isiah Pacheco both stepped up in a big way this season, with Rice proving he can be a number one receiver in any team offense. While Pacheco continued his strong play after coming on last season.
However, adding one more dynamic playmaker on offense would give them a definitive edge, making them even better if they want to win another Super Bowl.
Kansas City Chiefs: Road to the 3-Peat
The road to a 3-peat may be challenging for Kansas City next season. The AFC has proven to be a gauntlet with teams willing to give their best and improve as time passes.
Joe Burrow should be healthy and set to return next season for the Cincinnati Bengals, a team that has consistently given the Chiefs a hard time in the playoffs.
The Buffalo Bills, despite losing to the Chiefs in the playoffs, are still sniffing around and are as dangerous as ever.
MVP Lamar Jackson and the Ravens should bounce back next season after the Chiefs eliminated them in the AFC Championship game.
Aaron Rodgers will return for a Jets team that may feel they are a quarterback away; and the Houston Texans may continue to rise after a stellar rookie season from C.J. Stroud.
AFC West rivals, Los Angeles Chargers should be a better team with a healthy Justin Herbert and Jim Harburgh as head coach.
If the Chiefs have any hopes of a 3-peat, continuing their dominance of the AFC has to be pivotal for them.
