Tonight at 7:00 p.m. ET, the New Jersey Devils (12-14-6, 30 points) and Pittsburgh Penguins (21-10-1, 43 points) faceoff live from the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh in the third of four meetings this season. New Jersey enters play looking to bounce back from a loss while Pittsburgh has experienced injuries but has still won six of its last eight games as it enters a stretch of five games in seven days. The Penguins shutout the Devils in their first meeting in Pittsburgh with a 3-0 win on Oct. 3 but the Devils were able to mount some revenge with a 4-1 win in New Jersey on Nov. 16.

The Penguins have battled through injuries on their blue line but won their last game 2-1 against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

"It's not an ideal situation we have with those guys hurt, but you can't do anything about that," rookie defenseman Olli Maatta told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "All you can do is play your best. Guys get hurt, and somebody's got to step up. I feel like we have a lot of guys that have done that. We've got to keep doing it." 

The Devils lost to the Blue Jackets on Tuesday 5-4 in Columbus and the Devils had a full practice on Wednesday.

"I think we needed to practice," forward Dainius Zubrus told The Bergen Record. "It's good with [coach] Pete [DeBoer] that we have the same system and same things that we've done for a couple years now, but still with some young guys coming in, we develop our [good] habits in our practices. The good habits need to kick in and we need to be doing them consistently." 

The Devils have been led offensively by Jaromir Jagr, who has 25 points off of 11 goals and 14 assists while Patrik Elias is on a four-game point streak and has six tallies and 13 helpers for 19 points and Andy Greene has found the twine four times and added 11 assists for 15 points.

Penguins captain Sidney Crosby leads the NHL with 43 points off of 16 goals and 27 assists while Evgeni Malkin sports an NHL-best 30 assists on top of eight goals for 38 points and has a 10-game point streak while Chris Kunitz is tied for fourth in the league with 17 tallies while adding 14 helpers for 31 points.

Marc-Andre Fleury is the probable starter between the pipes for the Penguins and is tied for the most wins in the league with a 17-8-1 record and has a 2.01 goals-against average and .922 save percentage thus far but could be due for a night off with the Penguins upcoming stretch of games. Martin Brodeur is likely to start for the Devils and is 8-8-2 with a 2.44 GAA and a .898 save percentage thus far this year.

The Devils look to bounce back from a tough loss while the Penguins try to keep on rolling when the puck is dropped at the Consol Energy Center tonight in Pittsburgh.
