The Chargers have solidified their future around quarterback Justin Herbert, whom they drafted with the sixth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The 25-year-old Oregon native has swiftly made his mark in the league, earning the 2020 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year accolade and securing a Pro Bowl appearance in 2021.
In the summer of 2023, the Chargers made a significant commitment to Herbert, offering him the most lucrative contract in NFL history up to that point, which was a five-year extension valued at $262.5 million.
This monumental deal cements Herbert's position as the centerpiece of the franchise, and the Chargers' focus must now shift to assembling a talented supporting cast around him to vie for the Super Bowl.
Malik Nabers
With top quarterbacks such as USC Trojans' Caleb Williams, North Carolina Tar Heels' Drake Maye, LSU Tigers' Jayden Daniels, as well as Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. projected as the first four selections in the draft, the Chargers might opt for LSU Tigers wide receiver Malik Nabers with their pick.
The 20-year-old wide receiver, who is also a Louisiana native, was named a Unanimous All-American and First Team All-SEC in 2023
During his three-season stint with the Tigers, Nabers amassed 189 receptions for a total of 3,003 yards and scoring 21 touchdowns. Notably, he departed LSU as the school's all-time leader in receiving yards.
Nabers is the consensus second-best wide receiver in the draft behind Harrison Jr, and the Chargers are in need of a player of his caliber.
