Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur Preview

Both teams have shown vulnerability in their previous Premier League outings.

The Spurs bowed to Aston Villa in Week 13, 1-2, while City only managed to come out with a point in a battle with contenders Liverpool.

They had to buck a slow start in the Champions League by scoring three goals to pull off an 0-2 comeback.

Guardiola is bracing for a tougher challenge at home and believes that although they struggled against Leipzig, they can use what they learned in future matches.

"If you talk about the game, we could do better, sloppy goals," he told reporters after the match.

"In football, you have to win duels, and it was quite similar against Chelsea. We were solid and now [not]."

For his part, Ange Postecoglou acknowledged that the Spurs are struggling but saw more positives than negatives despite the loss to Villans.

"We don't get the rewards today and we've got to take the pain of the defeat but in terms of our progress I think if we continue down that road we'll get to where we want to," he said.

Spurs started the season on a high note. They even occupied the top spot for a moment. The energy from the beginning of the new season is no longer present, which is a problem Postecoglou needs to address.

They were the first to score in their three straight losses, only to concede multiple goals.

Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur Pick

The match will be played at the Etihad Stadium, where City has yet to lose a match.

Kevin de Bruyne, Mateo Kovacic, and Matheus Nunes will not be there for Pep. Their absence is hardly felt, though, as Erling Haaland continues to be sensational for City.

Tottenham has been without several players since August, but the biggest loss is James Maddison, who was there for them during their winning run.

Maddison, who they acquired over the summer, went down with an ankle injury, joining Ivan Perisic, who is out for the season with a knee injury, and star defender Micky van de Ven.

Prediction: Manchester City wins, 2-0.
