Adrian Peterson Injury Update [VIDEO]: Did 2012 MVP Avoid Lisfranc, Torn Ligaments, Status For Week 15?

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson received some good news about his injured foot after Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens as he will not need surgery. However the Vikings star will most likely be sidelined in Week 15.

According to ESPN, Peterson suffered a mid-sprain in his foot but didn't tear anything, though he is unlikely to start when the team takes on the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 15. Peterson was injured during the second quarter in last Sunday's eventual loss to the Ravens when he was tackled while trying to stretch for a first down.

ESPN reports that X-rays were negative on his foot and an MRI showed no structural damage or any signs of a Lisfranc injury to his foot. Peterson told ESPN Monday afternoon that he planned on playing against the Eagles on Sunday, but he is still set to undergo a CT scan on the injury with the team planning to send the results to a foot specialist for further evaluation.

The Vikings eventually fell to the Ravens on a snowy Sunday afternoon 29-26, and Peterson ripped the Baltimore fans after the game.

"They've got the worst fans in the NFL," Peterson told ESPN following his team's crushing loss. "[They were] throwing snowballs the entire fourth quarter, like kids. It was a bad feeling, a bad feeling.

According to the report, the team got the results on Monday and expected that Peterson would have to spend time in a walking boot and eventually prove that he could run when the boot came off, meaning that he'd likely skip Sunday's game.

The reigning NFL Most Valuable Player led the league in rushing heading into Sunday's games and now finds himself in second, behind Philadelphia's LeSean McCoy, and he has shown a knack of recovering from injuries quickly in the past.

The Vikings enter play at 3-9-1 and don't have much to play for, so the team may err on the side of caution with the injury and have Peterson sit out for the game against the NFC-East leading Eagles (8-5).

Peterson leads the league with 268 rushing attempts and has 1,221 yards on the ground while amassing 10 touchdowns thus far this season for the Vikings.
