The Chicago Bears have alluded to a significant decision regarding wide receiver Chase Claypool.

Bears general manager Ryan Poles expressed his well wishes to Chase Claypool moving forward for the rest of his career while stating that this situation would be a learning experience for both sides involved.

"I think Chase is going to learn from this situation, we all will, and I wish him luck moving forward throughout his career," the 38-year-old executive said.

Poles said he empathizes with players in their contract years, recognizing the pressure they face to perform. He acknowledges that players may struggle emotionally and in maintaining resilience within the team when things don't go as planned.

While no decision has been officially announced by the team yet, league writer Jeremy Fowler of ESPN said that the Bears are more likely to release Claypool than trade him.

Chicago traded away their second-round pick last year to acquire the 25-year-old, which ultimately became the 32nd overall pick in this year's draft used by the Pittsburgh Steelers to select Joey Porter Jr.

Claypool ruled out for next game

The Chicago Bears announced that the wide receiver would not see action on their next game against the Washington Commanders on Wednesday, October 5.

Claypool found himself sidelined in their Week 4 game against the Denver Broncos last Sunday, October 1, where he was made inactive. He was also instructed not to report to the stadium and to remain at home for the rest of the week.
