The Green Bay Packers will be facing the Detroit Lions without one player. Questions were in the air on how long David Bakhtiari will be sidelined, but it appears the answer is an unfortunate one.

The 31-year-old left tackle reportedly underwent surgery on Wednesday, September 27, and will undergo a second medical procedure to address his knee problem. Hence, David Bakhtiari has been ruled out for the rest of the 2023-24 NFL season, per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

It was an unfortunate development for the Packers and three-time Pro Bowler. Before Rapoport's update, Bakhtiari was initially placed on the injured reserve and anticipated to miss only at least four games, NFL.com reported.

However, the same report stated that the two-time First Team All-Pro's knee injury was a bit complex. As confirmed by Rapoport's report, there was a possibility of Bakhtiari missing the rest of the season.

Packers scrambling to fill the void

With Bakhtiari out, the Packers will turn to Rasheed Walker as the starting left tackle. Zach Tom and Yosh Nijman are two players being considered at the right tackle, according to Packers coach Matt LaFleur via USA Today.

It was an unfortunate development for Green Bay, considering they are off to a 2-1 star this season. Jordan Love, replacing Aaron Rodgers at QB, has responded brilliantly at quarterback for LeFleur, Bleacher Report reported.

The Detroit Lions are a two-point favorite to win over the Packers when the two teams take the field on Thursday, September 28, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, per CBS Sports.
