Ronald Acuña Jr. of the Atlanta Braves is one of the frontrunners for the NL MVP award, the other being Mookie Betts of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
After the Braves won over the Pittsburgh Pirates, 5-2, on Sunday, September 10, a feat that made them the first MLB team to clinch a playoff berth, the 25-year-old Acuña may have upped his case, the Associated Press reported.
Ronald Acuña Jr. had a two-run single that sparked a seventh-inning rally, per the Bleacher Report. The win pushed the team to the postseason, the Braves' sixth straight year and the second-longest streak in franchise history.

The four-time All-Star ended 1-3 on the day with two RBIs, a run scored and a walk. The efforts did not go unnoticed, with several fans backing him to be this year's MVP.
"The Atlanta Braves' powerful 5-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates was nothing short of incredible! Ronald Acuna Jr.," @thebaseballwtf tweeted.
There was another post showing one of the plays of Acuña with fans chanting: "MVP! MVP!"
Acuña admitted that he heard those chants, sharing what was going on in his mind at the time via MLB.com.
"Anytime I hear those chants, I feel like it gives me goosebumps," Acuña said through an interpreter. "Fortunately, when I heard it, I was able to deliver."
The Braves know that the job is not yet done. If they win at least three of the four games against the Phillies, they will clinch the division crown.
