Tonight at 7:00 p.m. ET, the Detroit Red Wings (14-8-7, 35 points) and New Jersey Devils (11-12-6, 28 points) faceoff live from the Prudential Center in New Jersey for the first of three meetings this season. Detroit fans can hear all the action on 97.1 The Ticket while New Jersey fans can do the same on 101.9 FM WFAN.

Both teams enter play on a sour note a banged up Detroit team had its four-game winning streak snapped last time out while New Jersey lost back-to-back games of a home-and-home to the Montreal Canadiens.

The Red Wings fell to the Philadelphia Flyers 6-3 on Tuesday in a game where their two top scorers Henrik Zetterberg (11-19-30, herniated disc) and Pavel Datsyuk (12-11-23,concussion) were sidelined. Neither player is expected back. With those two sidelined, Daniel Alfredsson (7-15-22) and Niklas Kronwall (3-18-21) are the team's top two scorers.

"In the end I thought we had things going pretty good for ourselves through two. The third period wasn't good enough, they were better than us," coach Mike Babcock said via NHL.com. "They were better than us because they lit us up on the power play." 

The Devils fell to the Canadiens for the second time in two games, this time with a 4-3 loss in the shootout Wednesday night.

"I'm disappointed for our group," coach Peter DeBoer said per NHL.com. "I thought we deserved two points in probably both of the games [against the Canadiens]. To come out with one out of four, obviously, isn't good enough in the standings."

The Devils have been led by Jaromir Jagr, who has 22 points off of 11 goals and 11 assists while Patrik Elias has six tallies and nine helpers for 15 points and Marek Zidlicky has found the twine three times and added 11 assists for 14 points.

In net, Martin Brodeur is 7-7-2 with a 2.25 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage for the Devils while Jimmy Howard is 6-8-6 with a 2.70 GAA and a .909 save percentage thus far.

Both teams look to bounce back when the puck drops on the Red Wings and Devils tonight in New Jersey.
