An MVP is good. But an NBA title makes it better.

That must be the mindset of Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid, who won his first MVP last season, as he now craves an NBA championship

However, just like the past four seasons, his team again came up short in the second round.

Embiid expressed an intense desire to win his first ring, but Sixers fans must brace themselves as the other part of his statement sounds scary.

"I just want to win a championship," he said during an interview with Maverick Carter.

"Whatever it takes. I don't know where that's gonna be, whether it's in Philly or anywhere else, I just want to have a chance to accomplish that. I wanna see what it feels like to win that first one and then think about the next one. It's not easy, but it takes more than one, two, three guys. You gotta have good people around you."

The French-Cameroonian has long chased the top individual award. He probably envies past winners Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic, who won the NBA championship a season after winning their second MVP trophy.

Sixers move to make the team better

Embiid specifically mentioned having good people around him. One move Sixers made to do it is by hiring 2019 champion coach Nick Nurse.

Adrian Wojnarowski previously reported that Embiid played a significant role in hiring Nurse.

Tyrese Maxey, who is growing into an All-Star, is sure to stay, but James Harden is about to head to the exit.

The Sixers roster is not built yet for contention unless they find a great replacement for Harden, who was Embiid's no. 2 last season.
