(Photo : Jim Rogash/Getty Images) BOSTON, MA - LeBron James (#23) of the Cleveland Cavaliers reacts with Kendrick Perkins (#3) against Boston Celtics after the second quarter in Game Four during the first round of the 2015 NBA Playoffs on April 26, 2015 at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.

LeBron James and Father Time rivalry could see more years, and the former will probably come out as the victor.

Kendrick Perkins believes his former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate and current Los Angeles Lakers star could play for 12 more years, although in a reduced role.

"LeBron [James] could actually play until he's 50 [years old]," Perkins said in an appearance for ESPN.

"If LeBron could buy into the Udonis Haslem role... Where he's on the bench being a veteran leader. You don't think no one would want him? We'll pay you the vet minimum which I believe is $2.4 - $2.5 million to be on our bench."

King James is 38 years old and still played at the top level last season.

The oldest player to retire in the NBA was Nat Hickey, although that was in the black-and-white era. Kevin Willis of the Atlanta Hawks retired at 44, while Udonis Haslem and Vince Carter in the modern era stepped away from the game at 43.

Lebron James' plans for next season

Lebron hinted at the end of last season that he is contemplating retirement. After all, he has accomplished everything he can as an NBA player.

However, he also made it known that he wants to play in the league with his son Bronny, who is expected to be drafted in 2024.

Lakers general manager may have given a clue what Lebron will be busy with after the NBA after saying that "he is doing the behind-the-scenes work to get things ready for the season."
