He acknowledged his desire to leave the club had been known to supporters for six months but insisted that this move was more about him.

Mount has agreed to join Manchester United on a five-year $70 million transfer fee after languishing on the bench last season.

He has been with Chelsea since he was six years old. He will leave the club as a Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup winner.

Mount and Erik Tan Hag's connection

Mount wanted to leave Chelsea, and manager Erik ten Hag made his move to Manchester United easier.

Reports have revealed that Tan Hag approached the 24 years old and expressed his admiration for his playing style and how he would figure in the team's formation.

"Mount opted for United over remaining at Chelsea or joining Liverpool due to the strong pitch Ten Hag, who has followed him closely since 2018, made to him," per Sky Sports.
