Maybe it is high time that some pro clubs do their scouting activities through Twitter.

A New York Mets fan's tweet from 2012 about current MLB sensation Shohei Ohtani has resurfaced, leaving the internet world abuzz.

This take from Twitter user @draftniks was posted five years before Ohtani stepped foot in Major League Baseball.

"@MetsGM Hey Sandy. YOU HAVE TO SIGN THIS GUY! Shohei Otani is an 18 y/o in Japan who throws 100 MPH. Get him before another team does. #Mets," the Twitter user wrote.

The weight of the tweet is not only because it was made half a decade before Ohtani's arrival but more because of how huge the Japanese two-way player is today - both for the Los Angeles Angels and the league.

This tweet resurfaced Wednesday and has been picked up by Bleacher Report, USA Today, and more publications.

Shotime showing off what other teams missed

The Angels was the first American team of Ohtani, and he is expected to become the top free agent of 2023.

That will arrive soon, but for now, the elite two-way player has been taking the league by storm since his arrival.

He is expected to take home the AL MVP award due to his all-around plays that break records here and there.

As a two-way player, he appears to be the best hitter and the most difficult pitcher to bat against. He currently leads the league in home runs (28) and RBI (64), slugging percentage while also being the leader in batting average (.180). He is also ranked third in strikeouts (127) and third in average fastball velocity (97.1 mph).

In May this year, he broke the most strikeout record of the sports "unofficial" GOAT Babe Ruth, with his 502nd strikeout.

He is sensational. The Ringer recently wrote about his case as the real GOAT once he hung his gloves and bat.

If only @draftniks was part of the Mets front office.
