Alfa Romeo's Valtteri Bottas was still pleased to finish 10th in the Canadian Grand Prix last Sunday, despite giving up 9th place in the final seconds to Aston Martin's Lance Stroll as they crossed the finish line at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.

"It could have been P9, but my tyres began to wear out towards the end of the race, and Lance got me on the finish line," the 33-year-old said.

Bottas started the race in 14th place on hard tires. However, the Finn made a slow start which saw him drop down two places to 16th. He eventually jumped into the top 10 after choosing not to pit under the Safety Car and kept himself in the points.

"I am pleased with our race today. I made up four positions during the race, and it's always a good day when that happens," Bottas added.

Bottas mentioned that the whole team executed a solid race and a good strategy. He praised the progress that Alfa Romeo made over the past few races.

He noted that ever since the Monaco Grand Prix, Alfa Romeo has been making decent progress, and it is proof of all the hard work put in by the team back in their factory in Hinwil, Switzerland.

Bottas' 10th place finish in Canada was his first top 10 finish since the season's first race in Bahrain, where he ended up P8.
