Tonight at 7:00 p.m. ET, the Montreal Canadiens (16-9-3, 35 points) and New Jersey Devils (11-12-5, 27 points) faceoff live from the Prudential Center in New Jersey in the second of three meetings this season. These two teams crossed paths Monday in Montreal and the Canadiens defeated the Devils 3-2 and will look to sweep the home-and-home set.
Montreal has allowed two or less goals in 11 straight games and P.K. Subban ensured that the stat stayed intact by saving two New Jersey goals with strong defensive plays on Monday.
"I won't be taking [goaltender Carey Price's] job any time soon, I think he's got that one pretty locked down," Subban said via NHL.com. "The amount of times that he's bailed me out, I don't mind stepping in there."
Subban has one goal and six assists in his last seven games and leads the Canadiens with 24 points off of four goals and 20 assists while Tomas Plekanec (9-9-18), Alex Galchenyuk (7-11-18) and Andrei Markov (2-16-18) each have 18 points.
Price is 12-8-2 on the season and ranks sixth in the league with a 2.00 goals-against average and is third with a .937 save percentage thus far.
The Devils will be out for revenge after outplaying Montreal but falling to them Monday in Martin Brodeur's fourth straight loss.
"It was a hard-fought game," coach Peter DeBoer said via NHL.com. "I thought we came to play. We couldn't ask for much more from our group effort-wise. I'm disappointed we didn't get the result we deserved, but they found a way to exploit a couple of situations and put some pucks in the net."
Cory Schneider is slated to start tonight and is 4-5-3 with a 1.72 GAA and a .927 save percentage thus far. Schneider's GAA ranks him third in the league.
New Jersey is led up front by Jaromir Jagr, who has 22 points off of 11 goals and 11 assists while Patrik Elias has found the back of the net five times and added nine assists for 14 points and Andy Greene and Marek Zidlicky have each lit the lamp three times and added 10 helpers for 13 points.
The Canadiens look to sweep the home-and-home while the Devils are out to avenge Monday's loss to Montreal when the puck drops at the Prudential Center tonight in New Jersey.
