One of the shockers last week in Formula One was Lewis Hamilton's announcement that he was parting ways with Angela Cullen, his long-term physiotherapist and trainer.

Hamilton and Cullen had been together for seven years, and the latter had become one of the seven-time F1 world champion's confidants as they became close friends over the years. As a testament to their bond, both had the word "loyalty" tattoed on their wrists.

According to Lewis, meeting Cullen was one of the greatest things that happened in his life.

Hamilton made the announcement on his Instagram, noting that Cullen had pushed him to be the best version of himself as the 48-year-old stayed by his side for seven years.

Lewis Hamilton wishes Cullen the best

He urged his followers to join him in wishing Cullen the best as she pursued her dream.

The F1 star assured that "Angela and I are good," and that she's simply "in a different phase of her life" now.

Cullen also talked about the split on her Instagram, wherein she shared that she was excited to go off on her new adventure. She added that working with Hamilton has been an honor and thanked him for believing in her.

Toto Wolff, the Mercedes boss, had seemingly hinted that the decision on Cullen's departure was up to Hamilton, saying they would support whatever the F1 star wants.

While the split seemed amicable, Hamilton's former teammate, Nico Rosberg, does not think it will go well for the F1 champion.

Rosberg said it would probably worsen things, as the two were true friends. He added, "I think probably that's another challenge and difficulty that he has to deal with and get used to."

The sky Sports pundit, Martin Brundle, agreed with Rosberg and expressed concern over Cullen's departure. He raised concerns over the impact of the split on Hamilton.
