Dwayne Haskins grabbed the headlines for the wrong reasons yet again as the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback got involved in a domestic violence incident at a Las Vegas hotel on July 3. Haskins was the victim, though, in this particular incident as his wife injured him in the altercation.

According to a police report from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Kalabrya Gondrezick-Haskins punched her husband Dwayne Haskins in the face during their stay at the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Gondrezick-Haskins has been charged with battery, which constitutes domestic violence with substantial bodily harm, according to court records.

Haskins suffers facial injury, denies losing any teeth

Police were called to the hotel around 2:30 a.m. PT, and Haskins was quickly taken to the hospital to get treatment for his facial injury. Based on the arrest report, when police searched the hotel room on the Las Vegas strip, authorities found a piece of a tooth in the bedroom next to the closet.

The 24-year-old backup quarterback reportedly had a split upper lip and a missing tooth due to the said incident. According to the report, he also suffered other injuries to his mouth that would require dental work to repair his teeth.

Haskins denied, however, that he is missing any teeth in a social media statement, saying, "I appreciate the concern... however I have all of my teeth. Don't believe everything you read. Peace."

Haskins gave a detailed account of the incident when interviewed by police about the scuffle. He said that they were going to different events that night with friends. Haskins was going to a nightclub while Gondrezick-Haskins was supposed to watch a "Magic Mike" show with a different group.

According to Haskins, his wife got upset because he was supposed to wait for everyone to return to the hotel they are staying in before going to the nightclub. Initially, Haskins told the police that he did not remember how he was hit in the mouth.

However, Haskins told a different story when paramedics arrived, saying his wife punched him in the face, according to the police report. Haskins then told a hotel security member afterward that "I want her out of my room, she hit me and cut my lip open."

Gondrezick-Haskins offers explanation

When police asked Gondrezick-Haskins about the incident, she told the authorities that she had been frustrated with her husband because she was locked out of their hotel room for two hours. Gondrezick-Haskins said that because her name was not on the hotel booking, she could not get in their room, which she needed to get ready for her evening out with friends, according to the report.

When asked about the ensuing altercation, Gondrezick-Haskins alleged that her husband got into a fight with another friend. When Gondrezick-Haskins tried to intervene in their fight, she fell to the floor and hit her head. Gondrezick-Haskins also told the police that she could not remember whether anyone battered her, although she complained of head and neck pain and had suffered bruises on both of her legs.

Haskins was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers in January as a backup quarterback for Ben Roethlisberger after playing two seasons with the Washington Football Team.
