WWE Rumors: Brock Lesnar Defending Universal Title Against Braun Strowman Before SummerSlam

Brock Lesnar is the WWE Universal Champion but he is not expected to defend the title on April 30 at Payback. However, Lesnar will eventually defend the Universal title against Braun Strowman sometime before SummerSlam.

The main event of Payback is likely between Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman since Brock Lesnar will not defend his championship. The WWE have already done a great job in hyping up the Reigns vs. Strowman with a vicious attack last week.

The "Monster Among Men" ambushed Roman Reigns while he was being interviewed by Michael Cole backstage. Strowman brutally attacked Reigns by hitting a powerslam on some equipment and throwing him like a ragdoll in the parking lot, per WWE.com.

Braun Strowman was not finished as he tipped over the ambulance that was supposed to carry "The Big Dog" to the hospital. Reigns reportedly suffered a separated shoulder and some cracked ribs but he is expected to return at Payback.

According to Cageside Seats, the WWE is eventually building up Braun Strowman as a challenger for Brock Lesnar before SummerSlam. Monday Night Raw have two more exclusive pay-per-views in between Payback and SummerSlam, Extreme Rules on June 4 and Bad Blood on July 9.

Brock Lesnar eventually needs to defend his title because fans notice the little things. "The Beast" should be stripped of his championship because he has not defended it in 30 days. However, the WWE really does not care about what the fans think and they kill logic sometimes on television.

Braun Strowman has greatly improved as a wrestler in the past year and he has a bright future in the WWE. He already confronted Brock Lesnar a couple of weeks ago and it will surely be slugfest when two immovable objects meet.

As for Roman Reigns, he will be selling the attack by Braun Strowman. However, the eventual plan for Reigns is to defeat Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 34 to cement himself as the next face of the WWE. Nevertheless, these are just purely speculative at the moment and should be taken with a grain of salt.
