The NFL free-agent quarter back Colin Kaepernick is trying to make himself a good person off the field by aiding people in Somalia while his wait for the call to play for any NFL team continues.
Kaepernick opted out of San Francisco 49ers contract is currently involved with no team in NFL and there are no rumors regarding him going to any team. In his free time he got involved with the "Turkish Airlines Help Somalia" movement, a movement which is directed to aid in whichever way possible.
Somalia is currently affected with drought which is threatening to drive famine in the country and almost 6.2 million people in the country are affected by this. On Saturday, the Somalian PM declared the conditions here require a large amount of money.
This "Turkish Airlines help Somalia" is a movement started in social media led by YouTubers and Hollywood star Ben Stiller as Turkish Airlines pledged to fly their plane with food and water to Somalia to help the cause. Kaepernick joined this aid and contributed.
Earlier, it was a French entrepreneur and social media star Jerome Jarre who started this movement by introducing the idea of Turkish Airlines delivering food and water to the drought-affected nation. Ben Stiller joined in the movement and expanded in on Twitter.
Kaepernick posted on Instagram to make people aware of the Somalia situation. He expressed his concern and willingness to help the cause. Later, he thanked the Turkish Airlines for providing their airplane to send food and water to Somalia.
The flight will be a full cargo flight which can contain 60 tons of food. Kaepernick appealed on Twitter to make contributions to this cause. There is a GoFundMe page created by Jerome Jarre where people can contribute for this cause, the movement has reportedly already raised $1million, Jarre also announced that the airline has agreed to allow food containers to be shipped on its commercial aircrafts to Somalia until famine ends there.
