WWE Rumors: Reason Why SmackDown Battle Royal Ended in Controversy Revealed

The 10-man Battle Royal to determine the new No. 1 contender for the WWE championship ended in controversy. The latest WWE rumors have revealed the real reason why the match was declared a draw between Luke Harper and A.J. Styles.

Randy Orton, who won the Royal Rumble Match, declined to use his title shot against Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 33. It led to the 10-man Battle Royal in last week's SmackDown Live with WWE rumors pointing out Harper as the winner.

However, the match ended in controversy as Harper and Styles both hit the floor at the same time. As recapped by WWE.com, SmackDown general manager Daniel Bryan came down and decided to make a match between Harper and Styles next week to determine the No. 1 contender.

According to the latest WWE rumors, the real reason why the match ended in controversy is because the WWE is uncertain about their plans. Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats reported that the WWE is not fully behind Harper as a main eventer.

Backstage WWE rumors revealed last week that one of the plans is for Wyatt to defend the championship against Harper and Orton in a Triple Threat Match. However, the WWE might not be ready to give Harper the main event spotlight.

Harper is a former Intercontinental champion and he is one of the most underrated superstars in the WWE. The crowd has been firmly behind him ever since he turned babyface and attacked both Orton and Wyatt.

Ortman also pointed out the WWE rumors regarding a babyface turn for Wyatt in his feud against Orton. It is a big possibility that Wyatt and Harper could join forces again and form the original Wyatt Family with Erick Rowan, who is set to return from injury very soon.

As for Styles, he is still rumored to be facing Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 33. However, it should be noted that these are WWE rumors and should be taken with a grain of salt. The WWE tends to change their mind on a regular basis.
