The Cubs' scorching start has gotten the attention of the voters.
Major League Baseball revealed the All-Star vote leaders on Wednesday and five players from the North Side are currently leading their positions -- including four from the infield. The MLB All-Star Game emanates from Petco Park in San Diego on July 12.
Anthony Rizzo led all National League players with 874,471 votes. The first baseman joins second baseman Ben Zobrist, third baseman Kris Bryant, shortstop Addison Reed and outfielder Dexter Fowler as Cubs who currently pace their positions in votes.
The Cubs lead the MLB with a 35-15 overall record entering Wednesday and had a six-game winning streak snapped on the final day of May.
Zobrist leads the majors with a .445 on-base percentage and ranks fourth with a .345 batting average, while Fowler is second with a .434 on-base percentage.
Bryant and Rizzo are tied for the club lead with 11 homers and 37 RBIs apiece. Russell is perhaps the outlier, hitting just .246 to rank 11th among NL shortstops. He is, however, fourth on the Cubs with 30 RBIs.
Chicago enters June ranking second in the National League with 275 runs and 263 RBIs.
