The trailer for the film Linsanity, which chronicles Jeremy Lin's road to becoming a professional basketball player and the spectacular play on the court that generated frenzied interest, was recently released.

The trailer can be seen below:

According to Sports Illustrated, Evan Leong directed the film and has been following the 25-year-old Houston Rockets guard around for years, since his days of high school at Palo Alto High. Linsanity is an in-depth documentary and feature film that depicts Lin's triumph and struggles in trying to become an NBA star and his journey to becoming a household name.

The film, which appeared at the Sundance Film Festival in January, as well as other festivals, will debut in select major cities on Oct. 4. and has received some glowing reviews.

Lin gained popularity in his 2012 stint with the Knicks where he helped lead a winning streak for the franchise in February and 'Linsanity' took over New York City. Later in 2012, during the offseason, Lin parlayed his new-found success and popularity into a three-year $25 million deal. The 6-foot-3 200-pound point guard wasn't always successful. It was a tough road to success for Lin.

Before becoming one of the biggest stories in sports, Lin struggled in high school and didn't receive any athletic scholarships while also garnering just mild NCAA interest. Lin went to Harvard University, but wasn't drafted following his graduation at the esteemed university. Lin eventually reached a contract with his home team of the Golden State Warriors in 2010, but never truly got a chance to shine. He later joined the Knicks in 2011-12, but didn't truly take off until Feb. 2012.

Lin's popularity in Houston wasn't met with the same frenzy as New York. Lin played in 82 games, scoring 1,095 points, 497 assists and 247 rebounds last season.

Now, Lin will go onto the big screen and 'Linsanity' may once again spread nationwide.
