Given the tournament's taxing structure—two matches in consecutive days—heavy legs marred the first 40 minutes of action. Genuine chances were few and far between until individual brilliance from Douglas Costa forced Keylor Navas to relive his magic from the 2014 World Cup. Man of the Match: Costa was every bit the dangerous player Bayern Munich believed him to be on Wednesday, providing a set-piece assist.
Lesson Learned: All respect to David De Gea, but Real Madrid already have a goalkeeper. Two in fact. Preseason results should always be taken with a grain of salt, but the duo of Navas and Kiko Casilla faced the likes of AS Roma, Manchester City, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich this summer.
They conceded just two goals, and very little could be done to save Bayern's match-winner on Wednesday.
Couple that fact with Navas being named the 2013-14 La Liga Goalkeeper of the Year, and it's abundantly clear Madrid boast two players that can perform amicably this campaign, allowing De Gea to arrive on a free transfer in 2016.
