Martin Brodeur set several goaltending records as a member of the New Jersey Devils, but he's not in a hurry to rejoin the organization in a front office capacity.

The Devils announced the hiring of Ray Shero as Lou Lamoriello's replacement as general manager, though Lamoriello is staying on as the director of hockey operations.
Brodeur, who played seven games for the St. Louis Blues and then filled an advisor role this past season after previously spending his whole career with the Devils, said he's not ready to come back to New Jersey just yet.

"Especially with the change [the Devils] made, I think it's a great opportunity for me to take a step back and go somewhere -- or stay somewhere -- that I'll be able to learn and do things I want to do and try to learn as much as possible and who knows what the future [holds]," Brodeur told NorthJersey.com. "But it's less and less likely it's going to happen in New Jersey for a few years, that's for sure."
Brodeur, 43, is the NHL's all-time leader in regular season wins (691), regular season shutouts (125) and playoff shutouts (24) and holds various other NHL records and Devils franchise marks. He announced his retirement on Jan. 29.
Brodeur, who added he was "surprised" Lamoriello stepped down as GM, said he enjoyed his role with the Blues this past year.
"It was a lot of fun," he said. "I think I've learned a lot and it's definitely something I'd like to continue. We'll see what's going to happen in the next few weeks. It was a good experience. I got to meet a lot of good people and get a lot of good advice. It was a little overwhelming at first when I started it. I think I get the concept a little more now. I've still got a lot of stuff to learn, but it was good."
Lamoriello said he believes Brodeur will one day join the Devils, but right now it seems the future Hall of Famer is fine with exploring other options and even staying with St. Louis.
"I don't know the new GM that's there," Brodeur said. "I haven't talked to anybody in New Jersey actually. That's something that if they want to talk to me, I'm here. But we haven't talked at all."
Brodeur has begun a new chapter in his career after winning the Stanley Cup three times and the Vezina Trophy on four different occasions.
