Washington Redskins Rumors: Virginia Governor Proposes Relocation [VIDEO]

The Washington Redskins have a number of roster issues that they are working on this offseason. The team has completely fallen apart after winning the division just two years ago. They are hopeful that the NFL draft will provide some fresh talent that can put the team back on track to contend for a playoff berth.

According to TMZ, the team could also have a major shakeup on the horizon that has nothing to do with who wears a uniform when the team takes the field. Instead, it could involve where said field is when it is time for the season to start.

Washingotn has a huge fan base thanks not only to the fact that they play just outside of one of the nation's largest cities, but also because that city is located on the border between Virginia and Maryland, which makes it within driving distance for many more people.

Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe thinks that the team should consider relocating. He wants the team to move away from the District of Columbia and take up residence to the south.

McAuliffe has been working to get a new football stadium built in Virginia, and he thinks it would be the perfect place for Washington to start playing their home games in a few years, adding that Virginia is simply "where they belong."

Obviously any discussion about a relocation will involve reviled owner Dan Snyder, but McAuliffe thinks he has some pretty convincing reasons that might sway the owner.

And for what it's worth, the team does already have its training camp in Virginia's capital city of Richmond.
