The Colorado Rockies (27-24) will look to bounce back from a three-game losing streak when they take on the Houston Astros (15-36) on Tuesday at Minute Maid Park. The first pitch is scheduled for 2:10 p.m. ET and will air live here.
Houston capitalized on a Brandon Barnes two-out RBI ground-rule double in the 12th inning to capture a 3-2 victory over the Rockies. The win finally gave fans of the struggling team something to cheer about as the Astros are 4-6 in their last 10 games.
Houston will have their hands full when they face arguably the Rockies' best pitcher, Jorge De La Rosa (6-3). De La Rosa looks to win a fifth consecutive start Tuesday when he faces the AL-worst Astros.
He has given Colorado a huge boost in his first full season since undergoing Tomy John surgery two years ago, especially over the past month. The veteran left-hander has compiled a 2.31 ERA in winning each of his last four outings - his best -- such stretch since winning a career-high seven straight in 2009.
"With the amount of time he missed, a year and a half, I don't think he was going to come into spring training and be lights-out," manager Walt Weiss told MLB's official website. "It's been a process with Jorge. He's gotten better and better. To be honest with you, where he's at right now after missing that much time is real impressive."
The Astros counter with Jordan Lyles (2-1, 5.40). Lyles is coming off his own impressive performance in which he allowed just one run and six hits over six innings Wednesday, earning the win in a 3-1 Astros victory over the Kansas City Royals.
"That's the best I've seen him throw in a long time," catcher Jason Castro told ESPN. "He had command, didn't miss. When we were trying to go certain locations, he missed where we were trying to go. He didn't leave really anything over the plate for guys to hit and that's big when you can do that."
