Chivas Guadalajara Transfer News: Erick 'Cubo' Torres Will Only Play for Los Angeles Galaxy

Chivas Guadalajara returned to preseason training on Thursday. Future goals for 2015 include avoiding relegation and returning to relevance in Mexican football, but the future of one of their stars remains a question mark.

According to Fox's Eric Gomez, former Chivas USA striker Erick "Cubo" Torres will only stay in Major League Soccer if he can join the Los Angeles Galaxy. The 21-year-old, completing his loan from Chivas Guadalajara, returned to Mexico and is currently training with his parent club.

Per the reports, Torres was made certain guarantees to keep his talents south of the border, including playing opportunities. Just don't tell that to Jose Manuel de la Torre. The Chivas boss ensured that no player is off limits when it comes to transfers.

"All can be negotiated," he said in a press conference following Thursday's training (via Medio Tiempo). "We can play a hand in all of their futures, not only those who have returned, but there are various that are already here. We are looking for the best group possible."

"The only thing that is clear is that those who return and all that are with the club, whichever can be negotiated if we deem it to be prudent," de la Torre insisted. "We always seek the best squad."

For Chivas' sake, Cubo's transfer must not be negotiated. In 29 league appearances last season, the Mexican international finished with a club-best 15 goals. Guadalajara, as a whole, finished the Apertura campaign with 13.

Desperate to avoid relegation and return to prominence, Chivas can ill-afford to unload their most-promising prospect since Marco Fabian.
