People know Tony Hawk as a skateboarding legend that revolutionized the sport, but Hawk now aims to revolutionize everything with his new hover board. Hawk has made videos before that show him apparently riding a futuristic hover board, but they turned out to be merely a prank that he was playing on us.

This time, he swears that the board is absolutely real. According to TMZ, Hawk wanted to set the record straight about the new footage that he posted and the real hover board he rides in it. He insists that this time, everything is for real and that the board is no mere practical joke.

Hawk has been practicing riding the board to test the machine at a warehouse in Santa Clarita, California. He claims that the board weighs in the neighborhood of 90 pounds and that it costs around $10,000 to produce. That sounds like quite a step up from the equipment that made Hawk a household name during his skating career.

The video footage shows Hawk in a miniature halfpipe testing out the board. It glides effortless across the ground, and it allows him to pull of some moves that look pretty amazing. Hawk even takes a few tumbles while riding the board, proof that even the legendary skater can be thrown off when he's trying to harness the future. I doubt that we will see a hover board on every corner anytime soon, but it looks to be a technology capable of rapidly advancing in the coming years. Just think how the X Games will look in a decade.
