WrestleMania 31 Rumors: Update On Rey Mysterio Returning For Show of Shows And His Meeting With Vince McMahon [VIDEO]

Rey Mysterio has been in a contract dispute with the WWE in recent months, but there is a feeling that a compromise may be reached that could see him appear at WrestleMania 31.

Mysterio met with WWE CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon backstage during the Nov. 3 Monday Night RAW telecast from Buffalo, N.Y. and while not much progress was made, there is some hope that Mysterio will be back at the Show of Shows.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, nothing definitive came out of Mysterio's meeting with McMahon and Triple H earlier this month, except for McMahon making it clear that he wants Mysterio back in the ring.

While Triple H is mostly running things these days, it was reported that McMahon made it clear that the meeting with Mysterio was his meeting and that he was running things when it came to getting him to return.

Though nothing big came out of the meeting, there is a belief within the WWE that a compromise will be reached and Mysterio will return soon.

When he does come back, it is believed Mysterio will work through WrestleMania 31 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. on March 29, 2015 as his deal expires in April.

WWE officials have also asked Mysterio to work more dates than most people think he should, which could be one of the factors that the two sides aren't agreeing on.

Mysterio, who has been rumored to want to jump ship for Mexico's AAA organization, recently had his contract renewed against his will by McMahon due to a clause in his deal that sited the company can renew pacts with talents that the organization believes owes it time.

Mysterio reportedly was looking to leave the WWE, but it's likely the company renewed his deal not only for the time he owed it, but also to keep him out of AAA where recently departed Superstar Alberto Del Rio is performing under the El Patron moniker.

Reports surfaced earlier this year that Mysterio had a handshake agreement with Triple H for the two sides to part ways, but this deal was broken up by McMahon after he chose to use the option on Mysterio's contract.

Mysterio appeared in a vignette during AAA's TripleMania XXII event on Aug. 17 that aired on the same night as WWE's SummerSlam and he congratulated the promotion on 22 years of success.

Mysterio also told the fans he'd see them soon, likely hinting at his desire to jump ship from the WWE. At the end of the video, there was a graphic that said #FreeRey, alluding to his contract freeze with the WWE. The WWE was reportedly very angry over the vignette.

Mysterio, 39, hasn't appeared on WWE television since the Monday Night RAW episode after WrestleMania XXX in early April, but he may be close to returning in time for this year's big event.
