Reports have surfaced that the Dallas Cowboys are reluctant to offer wide receiver Dez Bryant a long term contract extension and his recent decision to join Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports did not make the choice any easier.
According to Yahoo Sports, the Cowboys wants Bryant to sign a deal that comes with plenty of behavior incentives that would protect Dallas in the event that Bryant gets himself into trouble.

“Dallas Cowboys management has significant concerns about giving star wideout Dez Bryant a massive guarantee in a long-term contract based, in part, on off-field concerns with Bryant, multiple league sources told Yahoo Sports.
According to multiple sources, the Cowboys have made a number of contract offers to the wide receiver that provided him with meaningful financial guarantees, while providing protections for themselves if any off-field issues came to affect his ability to perform on the field.”
Bryant has established himself as one of the best wide receivers in the NFL but that hasn't come without his share of off the field issues. Bryant had run-ins with the law earlier in his career and that has scared the Cowboys from wanting to sign him to a huge guaranteed deal. Bryant also signed with Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports agency earlier in the week, despite owner Jerry Jones asking the wide receiver to avoid doing that.

Bryant has been a fantasy stud this season as he has compiled 635 yards and six touchdowns this season. Bryant had his worst outing of the season this past Sunday as he was shut down by Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson. With Brandon Weeden at quarterback, Bryants’ expectations have to be lowered. When Tony Romo comes back from his back injury, the sky is the limit for the Cowboys No. 1 receiver.
