Knicks vs. Boston: Is J.R. Smith cracking under the pressure?

It’s common knowledge people deal with stress in different ways. In the case of New York Knicks sharpshooting guard J.R. Smith, the approach seems to be blocking out the situation entirely.

After the Knicks lost Game 4 of their opening-round playoff series in Boston, Smith, who was actually suspended for the game, hit the New York club scene. Then he engaged in a repeat performance the very next day.

According to Next Impulse Sports, photos from April 28th and 29th are now easily available showing Smith partying and drinking at such hotspots as Pink Elephant and Griffin. For Game 5, he arrived at The Garden dressed in all black.

Heading back to Boston for Game 6, the Knicks now find themselves leading the series just 3-2 and some are predicting the team might be ripe for an upset. The Celts are just the 11th team in NBA history to force a Game 6 after trailing 3-0 in a best-of-seven series and the Knicks have not won a playoff series since 2000.

Just days after being named the league’s top sixth man, Smith returned from his suspension in Game 5 to miss to miss his first 10 shots and finished the night shooting just 3-of-14.  As a team, the Knicks shot just 39.5 percent from the field and just 5-of-22 (22.7 percent) from 3-point range, which had been on of the Knicks' strong points all season long.
