Jacksonville Jaguars Rumors: Rookie Blake Bortles to Start for Jacksonville Jaguars Week 4 [VIDEO]

The Jacksonville Jaguars had said that rookie quarterback Blake Bortles would not play until 2015, but now the former Central Florida star will get his first career start for the Jaguars in Week 4 after a train wreck loss and an 0-3 start to the season.

Jaguars coach Gus Bradley announced that Bortles would be the team’s quarterback going forward after the team’s 44-17 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Bradley had previously said that the Jaguars would not start Bortles in 2014, but the team’s string of losses forced the second-year coach’s hand.

Bortles replaced starter Chad Henne in Sunday’s game down 30-0 to the Colts and managed to string together a solid stat line for Jacksonville. Bortles finished with 223 passing yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions against a Colts defense that was using mostly backups.

Bortles was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft and was the consensus No. 1 ranked quarterback in the draft. Bortles entered the game to a huge ovation from the home crowd before throwing his first career touchdown pass to Allen Hurns on a 63-yard catch and run score.
