Alberto Del Rio Fired A Work? WWE Announces Release Of ADR For Incident With Employee [VIDEO]

The WWE announced on Thursday that it has released Alberto Del Rio for an unspecified incident that happened with a company employee.

"WWE announced the release of Alberto Del Rio due to unprofessional conduct and an altercation with an employee," the company revealed on WWE.com.

While the WWE didn't reveal the incident, Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that Del Rio was involved in a backstage altercation with an employee who works for the WWE's social media department and had words with them. It is noted that this should be taken as a rumor, but Del Rio allegedly snapped at the employee.

Del Rio expressed interest in calling it a career in WWE and going to Mexico to wrestle once his deal is up and that may happen now if the release is indeed legit.

There is a bit of speculation that the release could be a work. Del Rio, 37, whose real name is Alberto Rodriguez, was featured on the front page of WWE.com when he was released and the company used his ring name rather than his real name, which is unusual.

While the release could be real and likely is, it is odd that the WWE used Del Rio's ring name instead of his real one and the company didn't use the usual line where it wishes him well in his future endeavors.

If Del Rio really is gone from the company, then his last match is a bout against Jack Swagger on Main Event since he wasn't utilized on SmackDown or on the live event today in Australia.

Del Rio is two-time World Heavyweight and WWE Champion and the 2011 Royal Rumble winner.
