Indianapolis Colts Rumors: Matt Hasselbeck Believes Colts Asks Too Much of Andrew Luck [VIDEO]

Andrew Luck is on the verge of being an elite quarterback in the NFL, but his 10-year veteran backup believes that the Indianapolis Colts are asking too much of their signal caller.

Matt Hasselbeck spoke to the Shutdown Corner and said that the organization keeps putting more on Luck’s plate and that isn't necessarily a good thing for him as he enters his third season.

"The danger, in my opinion, is that people put too much on a guy that they don't put on him in their first and second years when he had restraints on him," Hasselbeck said. "They'll say, 'Oh, that was great!' and 'That was great!' and just keep piling it on his plate, and that's not good. If it's your 10th year or your third year, that's never a good thing.”

Hasselbeck then backtracked to clarify that he believes in Luck and that he has a swagger to him that makes him ideal to handle all the pressures. Hasselbeck wanted to make the point that Luck refuses to push back regardless of what the team asks him to do.

"He craves it, he wants more," Hasselbeck said of Luck. "He probably can handle it more than most people, but I am just not a fan of that. Tom Brady, Brett Favre, whoever it is ... I just think you can overburden a guy.”

Luck spoke to members of the media Tuesday and said he fully embraces the expectations after leading the Colts to two-straight 11-win seasons.

"There's always high expectations since I have been there," he said. "When you come to an organization that has missed the playoffs, what, twice in the past 15 years or whatever it has been, people know how to win here, and they expect to win here.”

Luck is poised to breakout in 2014 and place himself among the great quarterbacks in the NFL. In his two seasons with the Colts, Luck has averaged 4,098 yards passing and has totaled 46 touchdowns to just 27 interceptions.

Luck ranks as the No. 5 quarterback and No. 54 player overall in fantasy and a legitimate No. 1 quarterback in all fantasy leagues.
