Milwaukee opens up a six-game road trip after going 5-2 on a seven-game homestand while Tampa Bay continues a nine-game homestand after taking two of three from the Boston Red Sox to open it up despite having a nine-game winning streak snapped Sunday.
The Brewers enter play in first place in the National League Central and tied for the best record in the NL while the Rays come into Monday in fourth place in the American League East, 7.5 games behind the first place Baltimore Orioles.
Kyle Lohse (11-4, 3.07 ERA) toes the rubber for Milwaukee while Tampa Bay counters with Jake Odorizzi, who is 6-8 with a 3.97 ERA.
Odorizzi mans the mound against the team that originally drafted him, but he wasn't looking to draw any extra storylines over starting against the Brewers.
"I've kind of run out of stuff to say about that type of topic," Odorizzi said Sunday per MLB.com. "Treat it like another game, that's about all I can say, is go out and just try to continue what I've been doing and not change anything."
Brewers third baseman Aramis Ramirez had a day off on Sunday and is likely to serve as the designated-hitter on Monday at Tropicana Field.
"We had planned this a few days ago," Milwaukee manager Ron Roenicke told MLB.com of the day off. "He needed a day somewhere. Then we'll see what we can do with him in Tampa. We'll get him a day DHing. Maybe [Monday] and then he'll have two in a row."
Ramirez is batting ..271 with 12 homers and 47 RBI thus far this season.
Ramirez is part of a Brewers lineup that is flanked by catcher Jonathan Lucroy, who is second in the NL with 34 doubles and leads the team with a .310 batting average and outfielder Ryan Braun, who ranks tied for fourth in the NL with six triples and leads Milwaukee with 61 RBI.
Tampa Bay counters with a lineup that is sparked by first baseman James Loney, who leads the team with a .283 batting average and third baseman Evan Longoria, who leads the team in homers (12) and RBI (53).
The Brewers and Rays kick off a three-game interleague series when they clash tonight at Tropicana Field tonight in Tampa Bay.
