Vincenzo Nibali of team Astana snatched back the lead and wears the yellow jersey after 11 stages of the tour. Nabali will look to add to his 143 second lead on Team Sky’s Richie Porte and Alejandro Valverde of Movistar as the tour heads deeper into the mountains.
This is the second “transition” stage of the tour and both attackers and sprinters alike could look to make a move. The stage contains four uphill climbs that don't go higher than a five percent incline and ends with a down hill sprint to the finish in Saint-Etienne.
Nibali looks to have a strangle hold on the competition after his dominate stage 11, but could easily lose his way if the weather doesn't hold up. The competition has to step up their game if they are to catch Nibali before the end of the tour in stage 21.
