Vincenzo Nibali of team Astana leads the pack and wears the yellow jersey after seven stages of the tour. Nibali will attempt to hold onto his two second lead on his Astana teammate Jakob Fuglsang on the tour’s eighth stage.
The riders will face their first day of serious challenge as the tour moves out of the flat lands and into the mountain stages. Stage eight contains three major climbs that all come after the first 130 km of flat grounds. The climbs never go more than a 10 percent incline, but it will be a warm up for the later stages in which the riders will be truly tested.
Nibali will look to hold onto the yellow jersey as the mountain portion of the race begins, lets just hope that the weather conditions don’t hinder the event.
